In exactly one month from now, the worldwide release of Pokémon Sword and Shield will have millions of fans journey into the Galar region, pick their preferred starter, and take on gym leaders and an evil gang. Sometimes it is hard to pick between Sword and Shield as they are practically the same game but with subtle differences.

Despite being mostly similar, it is a tough choice on which version to get. With trading Pokémon being a concept since Red and Blue, the decision making will help ease the stress of picking one. But this time, there are exclusives outside of just the Pokémon we can catch in the wild. It will depend on personal preference, but here is a guide on what to expect for the anticipated Pokémon games.

Right now, there is not a lot of information on what will be exclusive to each game. But for what we do know, here’s a list for what each game will have as exclusives:

Zacian

Pokémon Sword Exclusives

Pokémon: Deino evolution line, Jangmo-o evolution line, Farfetch’d, Sirfetch’d, Zacian

Gym Leader: Bea, Fighting type

Zamazenta

Pokémon Shield Exclusives

Pokémon: Larvitar evolution line, Goomy evolution line, Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Rapidash (currently unconfirmed), Zamazenta

Gym Leader: Allister, Ghost type

There is still a lot of information that we do not know about despite the games being a month away from worldwide release. Depending on which legendary you prefer, exclusive Pokémon you can encounter, or even different gym leaders you will encounter, there is always an option to go for both even if bought at different occurrences. On release day, will you go for the sword, the shield, or both?
