Does Halo: Reach have Split Screen for PC?

If you’re playing Halo: Reach on a PC, can you play it local split screen?

Halo: Reach is coming out for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and it’s the first title PC players have from the collection. You can get it from the Microsoft Store, Steam, or if you have a subscription to the Xbox Game Pass for PC and pay the monthly subscription, you can play it.

A big thing many PC players are wondering is if they can play a split screen co-op campaign game or online match with friends from the same computer. Those who originally played Halo: Reach on the Xbox when it came out in 2010 had access to the split screen, but it looks like PC players won’t have the luxury.

Co-op is going to happen for the game, that’s for sure. If you and a friend have the game for your respective PCs, you can jump into a group together and start playing the campaign, firefight, or hop into an online match. Unfortunately, you won’t have a split screen mode for PC. There’s no local co-op, but there are LAN multiplayer and cooperative gameplay available.

So, if you and a friend want to run through the campaign of Halo: Reach together, you need to use two separate PCs and have two different accounts to make it work. It won’t matter what PC version of the game you have because they can interact together.

However, a PC Halo: Reach player can’t play with someone who is on their Xbox One. Make sure you and your friends pick up the correct game versions when Halo: Reach releases.

The game releases on Dec. 5 for PC and Xbox One players through Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
