For those of you that are fans of battle royale games, Forza Horizon 4 just dropped one heck of a mode to check out. The Eliminator mode is available now, pitting racers against one another until one is left standing, in which point, they become the Eliminator.

But what’s the mode all about? And, more importantly, how do you go about winning it? We’ve got the tips that will help you eliminate the competition with ease.

Getting Started In The Eliminator

First off, here’s how Forza Horizon 4’s new mode works. You join 71 other racers on the map, and start in a rather basic model — the 1965 Mini Cooper — but have ways of upgrading your vehicle.

As you compete against racers, the map contracts, getting smaller and smaller. Eventually, it’ll get to a point where there’s only a single race left, and the winner of the said race will be the victor.

Upgrade, Upgrade, Upgrade

There’s nothing against the Mini Cooper, as it’s a neat little performer. But upgrades are everything in Forza Horizon 4’s mode, and there are two ways to go about it.

The first is by winning races. Obviously, you’ll have to do this on your own, having the skills to earn first place victories. But by doing so, you can upgrade by either taking your opponent’s vehicle or finding Air Drops.

These are marked with smoke on a map and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. So if you’re feeling the need for a faster ride, you’ll want to jump on these as quickly as possible. Who knows, you might get the car you want right away.

Even if you don’t, though, there’s still a chance to get it. Get close to the opponent that took the car first and beat them in a race. Once you do, their car can be yours.

Don’t Avoid Races, Go Head On

Eliminator is one mode where you’ll want to take on your adversaries head-on, instead of “camping.” Go ahead and take on any opponents that come your way. You might lose and be taken out of the competition, but it’s worth the risk, as you could also win and move your way up to a better car. Besides, can you say it’s fun to hide out in the middle of nowhere with an inferior car?

As far as winning races and getting to Air Drops first, it helps to have an understanding of the map. Shortcuts don’t hurt to take, so feel free to do some cutting over. Just remember that your car loses a little acceleration if you end up going off-road. If you can navigate carefully enough, however, you could very well score a victory. As you make your way through the map, get used to figuring out what route you want to take and then put the pedal to the metal to get there.

And here’s a quick rundown of Achievements, so it’s relatively easy to see what you can earn in this mode. How far can you go in a Level 1 car?
