How to complete Flight School: Flapping Frenzy in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

There aren't enough Red Bulls in the world for this quest.

World of Warcraft, including the Shadowlands expansion, is not well-known for platforming mechanics. At best, it can be a distraction from intense fighting and dungeon-crawling; at worst, you’ll wonder why you decided to subject yourself to some of the challenges in the game that involve jumping, gliding, or flying. Such is the case with Flight School: Flapping Frenzy, a Bastion-themed test of your sanity and, potentially, your keyboard’s durability.

While in the area and with the quest accepted, you’ll speak to Instructor Malo. You may have three options available for you: “I am ready,” “I’d like a lighter course today,” and “I’d like to try the Paragon’s Challenge.” Completing the world quest, which will give you credit toward the Flight School Graduate achievement, only requires you to finish the normal course, so don’t worry about the Paragon’s Challenge, which is another level of difficulty.

After choosing “I am ready,” you’ll find your character floating in midair before a row of vertical torches. A certain mobile game might come to mind, and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing in this situation. Press the 1 key to begin, and you’ll use 2 to flap your “wings” and navigate between the torches.

Unfortunately, the collision detection in this quest is all over the place, and your character does not seem to match up with the location of the torches. There’s also about 0.5 seconds of input delay between hitting 2 and your character’s response, so you’ll have to factor this into your run through the torches. This world quest is only worth doing if you want to max out all of your possible renown with The Ascended and earn the achievements that come with the rest of Flight School.
