Does Diablo II: Resurrected have cross-play?

It's a PC first experience.

Diablo II: Resurrected will be the remastered version of the game, directed by Vicarious Visions, the team who worked on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The game will be a straight remaster, not a remake of the original title, so fans shouldn’t expect too many differences between the titles, save for the difference in graphics and modern features, such as updated servers, and cross-progression.

With Resurrected receiving cross-progression, many fans are curious if cross-play will work with the game. The matter would make sense because the game will be available on multiple consoles, and you can utilize cross-progression. However, that is not the case. Despite working on multiple consoles, there will be no cross-play available for Diablo II: Resurrected.

If you were hoping to play the game with your friend who only had a Nintendo Switch, the two of you will need to sync up to figure out what platform you want to play on. The same goes for the other consoles that will support Diablo II: Resurrected, such as the PlayStation 4 and 5, and the Xbox One X, and the Series X.

It’s disappointing to hear that the game won’t support any amount of cross-play, especially given the cross-progression news. It felt like the perfect opportunity to make Diablo II: Resurrected as approachable as possible for anyone who played the game before or who has never touched it. Blizzard might return to this in the future if there is strong enough community support for the feature, but most players can approach this game with the expectation that cross-play won’t be happening.
