Developer inXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, the expansive sequel to 1988’s classic RPG, is coming to Nintendo Switch this August.

The post-apocalyptic adventure takes place in an alternate timeline where the standoff between the between the United States and the Soviet Union broke into nuclear annihilation in 1998. Set in 2102, fifteen years after the original Wasteland, a group called the Desert Rangers are dealt a heavy blow: One of their own, Ace, has been killed. Players will take a squad of new recruits and find out who was behind Ace’s murder, and attempt to complete the character’s original mission.

Wasteland 2 began life on Kickstarter back in 2012, eventually closing out with over $2.9 million in hand. Though the title suffered several delays on its way to retail, it finally debuted on PC in 2014. In 2015, Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut debuted as a free upgrade to all Wasteland 2 owners, and the game was then ported out to consoles.

The Director’s Cut was a gracious augment for the original game, which adds new voice-over lines, new character perks, and a swath of other goodies for loyal fans. The Nintendo Switch release will include this extra content, but there’s been no word just yet on any Switch-exclusive content or touch screen features.

Currently, inXile is also at work on the upcoming Wasteland 3, which opted to utilize the crowdfunding platform Fig to accrue funds. That campaign raised over $2.25 million in 2016. There’s no current release date for the sequel other than a vague “2019.”
