Hearthstone‘s next expansion, The Boomsday Project, was revealed yesterday. As well as 135 new cards, that means the addition of new single player content.

Ever since the abolition of shorter adventure mode expansions, each new card set has brought with it single-player PvE missions. First they mostly copied the adventure mode format, before the introduction of Dungeon Run in Kobolds & Catacombs.

For The Boomsday Project, the missions will be a little different again. Dr Boom is opening The Puzzle Lab for players to test themselves against.

It seems like there might be fewer missions this time, but The Puzzle Lab is nothing like what we’ve experienced before. For one thing, they don’t necessarily require you to win a traditional game of Hearthstone.

Each mission is a different puzzle, with a different objective. The first, Lethal, requires players to find a one-turn kill with the cards they are given. Mirror wants you to create a completely symmetrical battlefield on both sides, while Board Clear and Survival are pretty self explanatory.

Those four are the only ones on the website right now, and it hasn’t been confirmed that they are the only four missions but it seems likely.

The Puzzle Lab will open on August 21, so two weeks after the expansion itself launches. Successfully completing all the puzzles will earn you the Puzzle Labs card back, so you can show off to all of your friends how creative you are at solving Hearthstone problems.
