Play through God of War again with new customization options and skippable cutscenes

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Already played through the 2018 God of War reboot? Great! Play it again, though this time you can play it with all new gear, harder enemies, and the ability to skip cinematics, with the introduction of New Game+. It’s touching down later this month, so if you’ve been thinking about taking another trip through the realm of Midgard, now’s a great time to do it.

It’s touching down later this month, so if you’ve been thinking about taking another trip through the realm of Midgard, now’s a great time to do it.

How will you access the new content? First, you’ll have to have completed the story campaign on any difficulty. When you’ve done that, you’ll find New Game+ available as of Aug. 20. You can start the game anew with all arms, talismans, resources, abilities, and enchantments you earned in your previous game on whatever difficulty you like.

There’s also a completely new rarity level of equipment you can craft and upgrade on your way through your second play through. You’ll need “Skap Slag,” a new crafting resource, if you want to upgrade your weapons as much as the new playthrough will allow.

If you don’t want to sit through Kratos teaching Atreus how to hunt or you just don’t care about those big game reveals anymore, you can also go ahead and start skipping cinematics. It’s a useful feature that you definitely should make use of if your aim is to just get through the game again with a set of new tools and options.

For those who haven’t enjoyed the tale of Dad and Boy just yet, God of War’s 2018 reboot is an excellent riff on the action-fueled series, you might want to go ahead and do so…so you can play it again. And again. No, really, it’s that good.
