Sea of Thieves is coming out with three content updates this year. Starting in May The Hungering Deep will challenge pirates of all kinds with a new threat and new rewards waiting to be plundered. The Hungering Deep will be followed by Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores. All content will be made free to all players.
Sea of Thieves has been out for almost a month now and has enjoyed a lot of really good feedback despite its shortcomings in terms of longevity. In order to address this common criticism, Rare has announced new content updates coming, starting this May.
The first content update to Sea of Thieves is called The Hungering Deep and will bring a new threat to the pirate world. This new AI-based enemy won’t be able to be defeated alone. You will have to join together with your pirate brethren and send them to Davy Jones’ Locker in this unique event.
Rare will also introduce a number of new mechanics to assist players on this new adventure, with additional unique rewards that can be earned through the event. A weekly events program will also be introduced in May, giving players new ways to play with weekly events and rewards.
The pirate life doesn’t end in May, but kicks off one of three content updates with the rest to follow this summer. The other two content updates will be Cursed Sails, which will include a new ship type for our very own TL;DR Coxswain to sail, and Forsaken Shores.
In Forsaken Shores, players will be introduced to a perilous new part of the world to explore and plunder. Both of these update will also include new gameplay mechanics, new AI threats to challenge, and unique rewards to claim.
The best part of all of this incoming content is that it will be free to everyone, so that means you won’t have to worry about breaking in to your secret stash to enjoy the fun that is coming to Sea of Thieves this summer. We’re hoping for more riddles, as that is one of the many things we love about Sea of Thieves.
