PUBG Has Been Banned In Nepal

It seems that PUBG has fallen afoul of public sentiment and governmental concerns in Nepal.

PUBG has been banned in Nepal, according to a report from The Katmandu Post. It seems that the Nepal Telecommunication Authority has stepped in and directed all internet service and mobile service providers to ban the game.

PlayerUnknown’s Battleground often referred to as PUBG, is largely seen as the came the proved the viability of the Battle Royale genre, becoming the first major success. In it, players drop out of airplanes and fight across maps with scavenged equipment, hoping to be the last person or team, standing.

The ban came about as a result of a Public Interest Litigation filed by the Metropolitan Crime Division at the Kathmandu District Court. In the filing, they sought permission to ban the game on the grounds of public interest, claiming it was harming children and youths. Oddly enough, permission to go ahead with the ban was granted that same day.

According to statements given by Senior Superintendent of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh to The Katmandu Post, they received numerous complaint from parents, schools, and teachers about the impact of the game on students. He also stated that they had discussions with psychiatrists before deciding to request the game be banned.

The Police have also advised that anyone found playing the game will be arrested, making this a dire situation for affected players.

As yet, developers Krafton, formerly Bluehole, have yet to release a statement about the ban, but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
