A Destiny-focused convention called Guardian Con was able to raise 3.7 million dollars for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Several companies, including Bungie, helped raise the money.

Destiny is a multiplayer first-person shooter franchise that is currently on its second game. Bungie, the company behind Halo, developed the project and was previously published by Activision before the two companies parted ways. The original Destiny released in 2014, becoming one of the fastest selling new franchise launch titles ever. The series has proven to be very popular among a very dedicated fanbase.

Guardian Con is a Miami convention that centers on Destiny. The convention held a live stream on Twitch that started on June 16 and ended on June 23. The live stream was to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is an organization that helps leads the fight against childhood cancer.

Several gaming groups, like Achievement Hunter and What’s Good Games, took part in the live stream. They helped fill in timeslots throughout the live stream.

Bungie also took part in the live stream. According to Guardian Con, Bungie was able to earn $400,000 during their time slot. On Guardian Con’s Twitter, they claimed that had been the most substantial amount raised during the stream.

Currently, Bungie is working on updates and expansions for Destiny 2.
