According to a new report from Gamescom, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition features a much faster loading time for the Nintendo Switch than the PlayStation 4. Additionally, details about the game’s development process cropped up during an interview with Eurogamer.

Ports on Nintendo Switch usually have longer loading times, as seen in the case of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. The game’s development team had to deploy a dedicated patch using the boost mode on the platform to fix the problem. This trend appears to have changed.

Based on Famitsu’s report (via Nintendo Soup), The Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch comes with loading times 40 percent faster than PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. These quick loading times make it much easier to play for players interested in using the console’s handheld mode.

CD Projekt RED’s Piotr Chrzanowski confirmed in an interview that this achievement happened during one year of work. The success required assistance from partner Saber Interactive.

“Of course, along that path, we’ve worked on specific optimizations,” Chrzanowski said. “We’ve definitely worked a lot on memory optimisation. We have much less memory available on the Switch [compared to the other consoles]. So making sure that the game works stable and within those boundaries, that took a while.”

The development team behind the port have been hard at work on the game since E3 2019. They’ve added things like the Ambient Occlusion which were not “in the earlier builds.”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition releases on Oct. 15 for the Nintendo Switch.
