Toby Fox Has Composed A Track For Pokemon Sword and Shield

Toby Fox, the creator of cult-classic Undertale, was invited by Game Freak to compose a track for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Toby Fox, the creator of cult-classic Undertale, was invited by Game Freak to compose a track for Pokemon Sword and Shield. The developer and composer broke the news earlier today via a tweet.

Fox rose to fame with Undertale, a beautifully crafted game that resonated with people to the point of selling over one million copies. Part of that game’s charm was the superb soundtrack, composed by Fox himself. The folks at Game Freak are fans of his work, too, and the result was an invitation to make a track for the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield.

We don’t know anything about the song at this point, other than Fox then tweeted to say, “By the way, it’s not the main track or anything. I just thought it was cool.”

In other Pokemon Sword and Shield related new, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have released a five-minute-long trailer for the upcoming game. While no English version currently exists, the embedded video is a long look at the game, upcoming features, all kinds of different Pokemon, and will be of high interest to long-time fans of the series. My one knock against the trailer is that it doesn’t contain enough Wooloo, but nothing ever does. Make sure you watch to the end to see Zaciana and Zamazenta throwing down, instead of just looking regal.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is due to release on Nintendo Switch on November 15.
