Does Warcraft 3: Reforged include The Frozen Throne?

Do you have to purchase the original DLC for the remastered version separately?
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Warcraft 3: Reforged is the remastered version of the original real-time strategy game created by Blizzard in 2002. The new edition comes with brand new graphics, some rebalancing to the units, a heap of additional pieces of content for players to return to the class game. However, does it include the DLC released later on following the initial release of the title, namely The Frozen Throne?

When you purchase Warcraft 3: Reforged, it does come with The Frozen Throne DLC. You need to work your way through the campaign to unlock it, but it’s there and comes with the entire set. You do not need to do anything special to activate it.

Blizzard originally planned to redo parts of the campaign beyond remastering the graphics. It expected to have American author Christie Golden repeat parts of the campaign to align with some of the changes in lore Warcraft had since Warcraft 3 initially released in 2002. However, when the announcement to change things up occurred, the fans were not entirely happy with this decision. Blizzard received the negative feedback, choosing to keep the campaign as it was in Reforged.

For those worried they may have to pick up something else alongside Warcraft 3: Reforged to complete it, there’s nothing to fear. The remastered game comes with everything the original game had when Blizzard finished developing it, including the DLC, so you won’t have to purchase anything more from the Battle.net store.
