Diamonds are one of the most sought-after materials in Minecraft thanks to its high versatility in crafting. The resource is the second strongest in the game, behind Obsidian, but for gameplay purposes, Diamonds are the best a player can craft. As with any rare block, the blue stones are challenging to find in any world. However, we have a few ways to ensure that you find Diamonds on any mining expedition.
What levels are Diamonds found in?
The first question any player asks when attempting to find Diamonds is what level are they most discovered in. Minecraft is set up with different levels, which increase by one each time you go down one block.
With Diamonds, you’ll want to be searching in the 5-12 level range. This is where they are most commonly found, although levels 16 and beyond can also house Diamonds. Of course, there are various ways to search every level, with each one a little different from the last.
The most common method is, of course, just tunneling around the world at each level from 5-12. Eventually, you’ll come across some Diamond veins with this method, but you’ll need a ton of torches. Also, you should be wary of the lava that exists from level 11 and beyond.
An active, yet less popular, method of mining for Diamonds is exploring caves. Caves can be found throughout any world, yet hold some dangerous enemies in monsters. However, caves are pre-mined to some extent, so it saves you resources.
How to mine the Diamonds
Once you do find a Diamond ore vein, you’ll need an Iron Pickaxe or stronger to receive any Diamonds. Iron is recommended since it doesn’t use up a ton of costly materials. However, if you want to take it a step further, you can enchant your pickaxe with the Fortune III Enchantment, which can double or triple your Diamond intake.
If you manage to find a solid amount of Diamonds, then you’re all set to start crafting weapons, armor, and other useful tools for your Minecraft adventure. If you want a full diamond set, which includes tools and armor, you’ll need 35 Diamonds.
