LEGO Fortnite has all the tropes and trappings of a typical survival crafting game, including weapons and tools with limited durability. However, we’ve discovered a method that repairs all weapons, tools, and every item with durability that costs players nothing.

Survival crafting games like LEGO Fortnite all feature similar systems and mechanics that help immerse players in their worlds. Hunger and health are two of those systems, forcing players to constantly think about where their next meal will come from. For us, this usually leads to planting lots of seeds and building a farm. Item durability is another standard mechanic for the genre, but there’s a way to repair all items in LEGO Fortnite that can really help players out.

As of December 13, 2023, Epic Games has patched LEGO Fortnite to remove this glitch. It’s no longer possible to perform the glitch and repair items. The same glitch fixed an XP exploit, and we can’t really argue with either fix because they make the game more consistent and fair.

It used to be that to perform the LEGO Fortnite infinite durability glitch and repair all weapons and tools, players needed to build a Chest and put all the damaged tools and weapons they wanted to repair into it. Then, they had to destroy the Chest with those items inside. When the chest has been destroyed, players can pick up all the items they left inside it and will see that they’ve all been repaired.

As can be seen in the images in this section of the article, we repaired three tools when testing this method in our world while the exploit was live. We also picked up all the resources used to build the Chest, meaning this way of repairing tools and weapons costs players nothing.

Why Does The Infinite Durability Glitch Repair Items in LEGO Fortnite?

We’re not sure why the infinite durability glitch used to repair items in LEGO Fortnite. If we had to guess, we’d say it has something to do with the fact that all the items in the world that have been built will drop resources when they’re destroyed. Resources don’t have a durability rating, but chests can hold both resources and items that do have durability ratings.

Therefore, it makes sense to us that when a chest or other structure holding an item is destroyed, LEGO Fortnite defaults its durability to full because that’s what would make sense for all resources that don’t have a durability rating. It seems as though chests don’t have a feature that allows them to store the durability of everything within them, so all items are set to the same level of durability when a chest is destroyed.
