How to find Water in Satisfactory

High quality H2O.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Water is essential in Satisfactory, becoming a vital part of energy generation and the production of some late-game items. To get water, you will need a water extractor and a source of water.

The water extractor will unlock at HUB upgrade Tier 3, but finding the water will take more manual effort. Despite having a resource scanner in the game, this cannot be used to find water, and instead, you will need to search the map for it. This means a lot of walking around, trying to find a pond, lake, or river, but there is an easier way to do things.

Satisfactory Calculator allows you to load your save files into the website, and it will draw a representation of the map for you. This is incredibly useful, as the map in the game is locked away behind later research, and will only show you areas you have already explored. The website’s map will mark resource nodes, and topography, with water being marked as blue terrain. This makes it incredibly easier to walk directly to the water, build your extractors, and then put together the infrastructure you need to get the water to where it needs to go.

This is, by far, the quickest and easiest way to find water in the game. To find yourself a file, go to the Local App Data folder on your C drive, then Factory Game, Saved, and SavedGames. Just drag and drop the file into the marked tab on the website, and the map will automatically populate for you.
