What is the release date?

Windbound will be available for everyone on Aug. 28. You can pre-order the title right from the game’s website, or from a variety of different online outlets.

What platforms will have Windbound?

You can expect to play Windbound on a variety of different platforms. It will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It’s a single-player game, so there is no need to worry about cross-platform interaction with other players or find the ideal platform to play with your friends. The game will be available on all platforms on the same day.

What’s the gameplay like in Windbound?

Developer 5 Lives Studios released a 20-minute video of the game, breaking down different gameplay features and experiences players will have in Windbound. It’s quite comparable to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where weapons are available all over the island, but many of them after extended use. You will learn new recipes to make weapons, craft food, discover ancient ruins, and sail around the island’s turbulent waters. There will be smaller islands for players to find with a boat that can be made from different materials.

While exploring these islands, you will have to make new weapons to use the various resources you find. For example, in the video, we see Kara crafting a grass sling and picking up small rocks to use as projectiles against a pack of razorbacks, and when one gets too close she has to rely on her trusty spear to fend it off. After taking down the creature, Kara can interact with the deceased body to acquire additional resources, such as a bone, meat, and furs. These items will be useful in other crafting and cooking recipes. You can expect to be repeating this process often to create more powerful items, taking down more fearsome creatures in Windbound.

What are the system requirements?

Steam lists out all of the system requirements for Windbound on its store page. It should be reasonably straightforward and easy to handle for most players interested in playing the game on most computers using hardware released within the last five years or so.
