In previous installments, online ranked seasons were only for play in the EA Sports Hockey League, or EASHL. That will change for NHL 21. In the release announcement for NHL 21 on August 24, EA Sports announced that new CHEL Ranked Seasons are coming to ONES, NHL Threes, and EASHL Drop-In play. This means that you can play in ranked competition in each of these modes, and climb the leaderboards on your quest to make it to the top.

In addition, players can obtain rewards in CHEL Ranked Seasons, such as unique hockey gear, items, and vanity sets that you can equip to your CHEL avatar in NHL 21. Previously, the only way you could acquire new items in the World of CHEL was through level upgrades. Players can also earn an opportunity to play in the EASHL Club Finals in CHEL Ranked Seasons.
