Five amazing terraforming creations in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing has always been a series that likes to allow freedom for its players to create the ways they want. New Horizons has taken that idea even further with a multitude of different ways to customize your island living experience to just the way you want. This includes custom designs, placement of plants, buildings, and more, and terraforming. With terraforming, for the first time, you can completely change the structure of your Animal Crossing home to any way you desire. Here are some of the best ways players have terraformed their islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

A Link to the Past’s Hyrule

One of the most impressive forms of terraforming in the early days of New Horizons comes from Reddit user VaynMaanen who created the entire Hyrule map from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

You can tell from the images just how true to the original game’s design VaynMaanen stuck to. Instead of Hyrule castle, Blather’s museum is in place, the only hill areas on the island have been fashioned like Death Mountain, and Kakariko Village is made up of the island’s animal villagers. Pokémon’s Pallet Town

From a huge project to a much smaller one, Twitter user LinkMigue has created Pallet Town from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Ash (and Red’s) hometown is laid out just like in the Gameboy games with the player walking from Professor Oak’s lab to the player’s house. Not much more to see here, but hopefully, we could see other towns make their way onto this list some day.

Absolutely nothing

We go from players with inspired fan creations to a completely blank canvas. Reddit user DJmudkips built up his island with shops, new villagers, and more just to tear it all down. Everything that cannot be destroyed has been moved to the beach (except residential services which can’t be moved), and the entire grassland has been wiped clean. The rivers have been covered, and the cliffs flattened. Sure, it’s not necessarily pretty, but look at all this space we have for extracurricular activities.

Valley of waterfalls

Twitter user JunkusDoggus’ friend has made an interesting pathway on his island. Waterfalls surround a normal path of stone. It’s a relaxing stroll up to his house every night that is also a sight to behold. You could easily experiment with the formula here and see what you could come up with. What flowers would go well on each level of the cliff? You could set a villager’s house up with waterfalls surrounding them. There are plenty of options for you here.

Beautiful island entrance

Reddit user SailorKelsey_ unlocked terraforming and made an interesting entrance to her island. Most people don’t spend too much time on the area surrounding their airport, instead choosing to focus on their own home, and how their village is set up.

Kelsey’s visitors are treated to a pathway surrounded by waterfalls and a plaza with a fountain in the middle. She has been kind enough to give plenty of commenters on the post some tips for terraforming, so if you are looking for inspiration, check it out and see what you can come up with.
