With September coming to an end, October rolls around with new games. Which titles will make the list for the best games?

September might have brought us fantastic sequels to games like Borderlands 3 and remakes such as The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, but October will arguably bring a better batch of games that will come out. There is a lot of anticipation from video game fans, and just like us, we hope that these upcoming games will eventually exceed our expectations. Whether they are sequels, remakes, or new titles, we have gathered the ten games of October 2019.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Complete Edition

Release date: Oct. 15

Even though this game has been out for a long while, the Switch port of The Witcher: 3 Wild Hunt brings all of the content, including DLC. Even though it has been done before, what will make new and old players love this game is the ability to play on the go. To truly enjoy the journey, one must be able to continue forward without taking a long break, and the Switch will deliver that once it comes out.

Doraemon: Story of Seasons

Release date: Oct. 11

Doraemon has been an ongoing franchise for 50 years. It is hugely popular in Japan but has made its way internationally. The game Story of Seasons will be the first to be released to a western audience. For those that are into farm simulations while acting as an RPG, similar to Stardew Valley, Doraemon: Story of Seasons will be a nice suggestion to play in October.

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

Release date: Oct. 18

For such a cool concept, Planet vs. Zombies is still a successful series with a new title coming out. As the sequel to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, Battle for Neighborville will undoubtedly deliver with enhanced gameplay as well as new mechanics. Developer PopCap Games knows how to keep the games fresh, and we hope to see that again on the 18th.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep

Bungie has brought Halo to life, and while Destiny was a mixed bag at first, the fourth expansion for the sequel, Shadowkeep, will be a first to be released without published Activision. There will be new features as well as similar ones coming to the expansion, and that is always a good thing. Destiny 2 has proved itself to be better than its predecessor, and we can hope that Shadowkeep will be the ultimate experience when it comes out tomorrow.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

Release date: Oct. 8

It is heartbreaking that Banjo-Kazooie has not gotten a game in over ten years, there will be a spiritual successor with Playtonic Games’ developers being formerly from Rare. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a spin-off for its main series, and this could be a chance to have Yooka-Laylee stand on its ground. It is hard to replace Banjo-Kazooie, but we are optimistic that this game can improve from its predecessor.

Felix the Reaper

Release date: Oct. 17

For having an oddly grim premise about Death, Felix the Reaper has a unique twist of being a romantic comedy as well. The gameplay will be a unique attribute as a puzzle adventure game, and with that being a different genre, this game certainly has a passion for making it one of the best titles of 2019. We will cheer for Felix once the game comes out on the 17th.

Minecraft Earth

It might seem bogus to have a mobile game on this list, but it’s Minecraft! Minecraft Earth is shaping to be a strong entry for the series, and it will be free-to-play as well. Even for a mobile game, Minecraft Earth will offer the chance to travel the actual planet and enjoy what makes Minecraft what it is. Early access will be available by then, so be prepared to witness the next installment.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Release date: Oct. 25

When you look at Call of Duty, it had a strong start, but then gradually got repetitive. However, a reboot of the best sub-series is a smart idea since the original Modern Warfare is considered one of the best titles in the series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will even have cross-platform multiplayer, so if you have a friend or relative who owns a different console, there is no need to worry for this game!

Little Town Hero

Game Freak is known for creating the worldwide phenomenon Pokémon, and this year, they have a completely new game coming out! Little Town Hero does not stray away from the RPG elements, so fans familiar with Game Freak’s work will have a simple time getting into the game. Plus, the music will be composed by Toby Fox, the one and only creator of Undertale. Even if Pokémon remains Game Freak’s iconic series, Little Town Hero will be a breath of fresh air to play.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Release Date: Oct. 31

Poor Luigi can’t catch a break for his fear of ghosts. For the third time in Luigi’s Mansion 3, he will bust them at a hotel with various themes and unique atmospheres. Even though there are only three titles, the fact that this series has been ongoing for nearly 20 years shows how much the Mario fans love Luigi. It is looking to be the best so far, and on Halloween, it will be the perfect game to play.
