Assassin’s Creed games are riddled with secrets, both from modern day references and historical Easter eggs. To make the games even more exciting, developers have tucked little secrets into surprisingly nooks and crannies – including the opening screen. A particularly interesting secret lurks in the menu of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – and it gets more elaborate as the game progresses.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Holds a Special Secret
If you look carefully at the loading screen in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the masks of the Cultists you have killed will appear in it, they will be barely visible, so you have to take a good and careful look at it (placed flat on the floor). Each time you kill a new Cultist, the loading screen is updated with the bloody mask of that cultist.
In my opinion, it is a very cool and clean feature and the guy who thought about this deserves a pat on his back. How cool it sounds that the in-game loading screen becomes a testament to your progress in dismantling the Cult? It is definitely a unique way to make use of in-game milestones in an artistic way, and beats just looking at a list of in-game achievements.
Other players have also spotted the special secret, with many fans on Reddit sharing the image and pointing out their progression. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s challenging story is no small undertaking, and those who enjoy seeing a visual depiction of their progress will likely enjoy this decorative acknowledgment. Hopefully, future games will continue to integrate these fun milestone markers, keeping fans eagle-eyed as they continue their journey through history.
