Among Us challenges you to kill your friends or to find the hidden imposter in your group. It’s an enjoyable game about lying to your best friends and figuring out who the liar is. There are imposters and crewmates. Crewmates have a set of tasks to complete while figuring out who the imposters are. Imposters are tasked with sabotaging the crewmates’ efforts, either by killing enough of them or by sabotaging vital parts of the ship. While the imposters don’t have tasks to complete, they should pretend to do them to avoid detection.
There are three types of tasks: common, short, and long. Common tasks are the same for every crewmate. The amount per game will vary depending on the server settings.
There are only a handful of common tasks. They are:
- Swipe Card
- Fix Wiring
- Insert Keys
- Scan Boarding Pass
The amount of time to complete them varies with the task. Swipe Card, for instance, takes little to no time, if you get the speed right on the card the first time. Meanwhile, fixing the wires is three parts across the map.
All players have the same common task, so you should be able to check if an imposter doesn’t go to the designated area, or if they claim to fix wires when that’s not a task for everyone.
There are also visual tasks that play an animation that everyone will see. Imposters cannot complete tasks, including visual tasks, which makes it an easy way to figure out who is an imposter and who isn’t. Visual tasks can be turned off in the settings. Players will still get the task but with the setting changed, the animation won’t play.
