There are three paths you can choose to explore for your Treasure Hunt in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. One of these routes is called Victory Road, and you’ll be taking on the various Pokemon Gyms scattered throughout the region. These Gyms will earn you badges, allowing you to participate in the Champion Assessment, and giving you a chance to become a Pokemon Champion. You do need to track down the various Gym Leaders. Here’s what you need to know about where to find all Gym Leaders in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
There are eight Gym Leaders you can find throughout the Paldean region. You can choose to go after them in any order you want to try, giving you the freedom to challenge them based on the Pokemon you find and the teams you make.

Where to find all Gym Leaders in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
These are all of the Gym Leaders and their locations you can find in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
- Alfornada has Tulip, the Psychic-type Gym Leader
- Artazon has Brassius, the Grass-type Gym Leader
- Cascarrafa has Kofu, the Water-type Gym Leader
- Cortonodo has Katy, the Bug-type Gym Leader
- Glaseado has Grusha, the Ice-type Gym Leader
- Levincia has Iono, the Electric-type Gym Leader
- Medali has Larry, the Normal-type Gym Leader
- Montenevera has Ryme, the Ghost-type Gym Leader
Alfornada has Tulip, the Psychic-type Gym Leader
Like Nessa and Elesa before her, Tulip is a Gym Leader and a model. Once you track down this Psychic-type using Gym Leader, she’ll give you one of the most challenging battles in the game, so she should be fought later on. Tulip’s Gym battle team she uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Farigiraf (Level 44)
- Gardevoir (Level 44)
- Espathra (Level 44)
- Florges (Level 45) Tera Type Psychic
Artazon has Brassius, the Grass-type Gym Leader
The whip-wielding Brassius is the Grass-type Gym Leader of Artazon City. He’s one of the weakest Gym Leaders in the game and can comfortably be challenged first or second. Brassius’ Gym battle team he uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Petilil (Level 16)
- Smoliv (Level 16)
- Sudowoodo (Level 17) – Tera Type Grass
Cascarrafa has Kofu, the Water-type Gym Leader
Once you’re done messing around with his dumb sidequest, you should be able to face Kofu, the Water-type Gym Leader of Cascarrafa City, in battle. He should be the third or fourth Gym Leader you face. Kofu’s Gym battle team he uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Veluza (Level 29)
- Wugtrio (Level 29)
- Crabominable (Level 30) – Tera Type Water
Cortonodo has Katy, the Bug-type Gym Leader
Katy is a Bug-type user and the weakest Gym Leader in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, so she’s the one you should take on first. Katy’s Gym battle team she uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Nymble (Level 14)
- Tarantoula (Level 14)
- Teddiursa (Level 15) – Tera Type Bug
Glaseado has Grusha, the Ice-type Gym Leader
At least in terms of levels, the strongest Gym Leader in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is Grusha, the Ice-Type Gym Leader. As such, Grusha should be fought near the end of the game. Grusha’s Gym battle team she uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Frosmoth (Level 47)
- Beartic (Level 47)
- Cetitan (Level 47)
- Altaria (Level 48) Tera Type Ice
Levincia has Iono, the Electric-type Gym Leader
Iono the Vtuber is the Electric-type Gym Leader of Levincia and is one of the weaker Gym Leaders, so she can be challenged second or third. Iono’s Gym battle team she uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Wattrel (Level 23)
- Bellibolt (Level 23)
- Luxio (Level 23)
- Mismagius (Level 24) – Tera Type Electric
Medali has Larry, the Normal-type Gym Leader
Larry is the Normal-type Gym Leader of Medali City, and he’s something of a breakout character in the Gen 9 games. Don’t let the suit and tie fool you, as Larry can be a potent opponent and should be fought later in the game. Larry’s Gym battle team he uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Komala (Level 35)
- Dudunsparce (Level 35)
- Staraptor (Level 36) – Tera Type Normal
Montenevera has Ryme, the Ghost-type Gym Leader
Are you ready for an epic battle on a snowy mountainside? This is what Ryme, the Ghost-type Gym Leader of Montenevera, will give you should you track her down. Ryme is one of the strongest Gym Leaders in the game and should be fought near the end of the story. Ryme’s Gym battle team she uses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is:
- Banette (Level 41)
- Mimikyu (Level 41)
- Houndstone (Level 41)
- Toxtricity (Level 42) – Tera Type Ghost
It can be easy to get lost on the map and not know where to go. Several objective markers on your map appear shortly after the Treasure Hunt begins. You have three paths to pick from. For those who want to pursue the Victory Road, visit these eight individuals and challenge them to a Pokemon battle. These are separate from the Team Star leaders, part of the Starfall Street path.

You will want to prepare for these Pokemon battles. Each Gym leader will have a distinct type of Pokemon that they will use, forcing you to devise a specific strategy to counter them in battle. If you’re struggling against them, there’s always the option to return after you’ve trained your team or find other Pokemon while exploring the world.
