All of Tiamat’s abilities and how they work in Smite

You will bow to her, or fall to her might.

The start of the year continues to grow in Smite with update 8.2 introducing Tiamat, the Goddess of the Salt Sea. She is the creator, and the destroyer, reshaping everything in her ideal vision. She’s going to be an interesting addition to the battlefield. We already knew that she was going to be a mage, and Hi-Rez already talked about how she’s going to have stance switches, enabling her to use different abilities in those stances, similar to Ullr. Now, we have the full breakdown of what those abilities are, and how they work.

Tiamat releases on February 23.

Tiamat has the most abilities for any Smite god currently released. Her abilities are broken up into the different stances she has. While she is flying, her basic attacks are ranged. While she is grounded, she has melee basic attacks.

All of Tiamat’s abilities

Passive

DEATH BEGETS LIFE

  • While in Flying stance Tiamat gains health from nearby ally and enemy deaths, less from minions. In Ground stance she gains up to 5 Hardened Scales, damage mitigation that breaks after a certain amount of damage is taken. Normal minions do not provide Hardened Scales.
  • Large heal: 40 + 8 per level
  • Small heal: 5 + 0.5 per level
  • Scale Mitigation: 60%
  • Shield value: 50 + 10 per level

Tiamat’s passive will be the same, and only changes based on her stance. While in her flying stance, she’s going to receives health whenever any other god, regardless if they’re on your side or not, dies. She receives less when a minion dies.

While Tiamat is in her grounded stance, she gains hardened scales, and these provide damage mitigation. Tiamat’s hardened scales will remain on her until she takes a certain amount of damage, so she becomes weaker over time when battling gods.

Ability 1

PRIMORDIAL ONSLAUGHT (Flying stance)

  • Tiamat gathers power, allowing her to fire orbs of energy at the end of the channel. Each orb damages enemies and stops on enemy gods. Hitting the same enemy deals 15% less damage each time, to a minimum of 70% reduction. This ability can fire additional projectiles at ranks 3 and 5.
  • Damage: 60/70/80/90/100 (+55% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 55/60/65/70/75
  • Cooldown: 10

While in her flying stance, Tiamat charges power for a single lane attack that fires multiple projectiles. As you level up this ability, she gains additional projectiles that she can charge for the attack. Each projectile does less damage if they hit the same target. For example, if Tiamat hits a god with using this ability three times, the third attack will do 30% less damage than the first projectile that hits.

CONSUME (Grounded stance)

  • Tiamat fires a cone dealing damage and slowing enemies hit. Minions, Large Monsters or Buff Holders hit under a health threshold are executed. Tiamat can immediately consume her Serpent and Beast pets to provide a Hardened Scale. When Tiamat consumes a Buff Holder she gains their buff while the original can still be picked up by allies. This allows Tiamat to pick up a second buff as well. Tiamat can only have one consumed and one regular buff at a time.
  • Damage: 60/95/130/165/200 (+60% of your Magical Power)
  • Slow: 25% for 1.5s
  • Execute Threshold: 30/35/40/45/50%
  • Cost: 55/60/65/70/75
  • Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8

While Tiamat is in her grounded stance, she can fire a cone ability that slows enemies in front of her. If the enemy hit is under a particular threshold, she can consume that enemy, similar to Bakasura. If Tiamat consumes a large jungle camp minion that has a buff, she consumes that buff and can use it. However, the jungle minion still drops that buff for one of Tiamat’s allies to grab. She can have a consumed buff, and have a regular one around her, making her a great option for a potential jungle god.

Ability 2

RUINATION (Flying)

  • Tiamat creates an energy field dealing low damage to enemies in the entire area and then a larger amount in the inner area. The inner area of the field also stuns enemies for a short duration.
  • Area Damage: 40/55/70/85/100 (+30% of your Magical Power)
  • Inner Damage: 60/95/130/165/200 (+40% of your Magical Power)
  • Stun Duration: 1s
  • Cost: 65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12

With this ability, while Flying, Tiamat has a rounded triangle in front of her to fire the ability. There are two layers to the triangle. Enemies hit by the outer triangle receive a small amount of damage, but those hit by the center one receive even more damage, and are stunned for one second. Players will likely be using this attack to set up ambushes.

OUTBURST (Grounded)

  • Tiamat slams the ground creating seismic rifts that erupt in succession in front of her, damaging and knocking up enemies hit.
  • Damage: 50/80/110/140/170 (+50% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 14/13/12/11/10

With Tiamat in the grounded stance, she can knock up enemies in front of her, creating a bit of disruption. it’s not entirely a stun, and the attack reaches out a bit more than Ruination, but it does a bit more damage in general.

Ability 3

GROUNDING DIVE (Change to grounded stance)

  • Tiamat dives into the fight landing on all fours, dealing damage and switching to her Ground stance. This ability also provides Tiamat one Hardened Scale.
  • Damage: 40/80/120/160/200 (+40% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 40
  • Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14

This is how Tiamat changes from her flying stance to her grounded stance. It’s also a method for her to escape, so outside of changing stances, she’s going to be using this to dive enemies, or utilize it to run away from adverse situations.

RISING FLIGHT (Change to flying stance)

  • Tiamat rears up sending out a blast of energy, dealing damage to enemies and sending herself backwards as she returns to her Flying stance.
  • Damage: 40/80/120/160/200 (+40% of your Magical Power)
  • Cost: 40
  • Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14

While in the grounded stance, Tiamat will use this ability to return to the air. The ability is how Tiamat creates distances away from gods, using it to knock her back, allowing her to use her more ranged attacks.

Ability 4 (Ultimate)

CHILDREN OF CREATION (Fires off Summon Serpents, Beast, and Storm)

  • Tiamat is able to summon one of her children onto the battlefield. Summon Serpents: Serpents that travel down lanes and act as minions. Summon Beast: Kusarikku who stands guard waiting for enemy gods. Summon Storm: Umu Dabrutu, the storm that chases enemies.
  • Cost: 0
  • Cooldown: 0

SUMMON SERPENTS (Ability 1)

  • Tiamat places a pit of creation which spawn Serpents of Tiamat that act like minions, traveling down lanes and attacking nearby enemies. 2 Serpents spawn every 10s and the deployable creates 3 waves before disappearing. Enemies hit by the serpents have their damage done reduced. Enemies can also stand on the pit to destroy it early.
  • Damage: 10 (+8% of your Magical Power)
  • Damage Reduction: 10/15/20/25/30 %
  • Hit Points: 2
  • Minion Damage: 1 HP lost per 3 hits
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 46/42/38/34/30

SUMMON BEAST (Ability 2)

  • Tiamat calls forth Kusarikku who stands guard at the target location. If an enemy god comes too close, he charges, slows and attacks them.
  • Charge Damage: 30/45/60/75/90 (+20% of your Magical Power)
  • Basic attack Damage: 15/20/25/30/35 (+15% of your Magical Power)
  • Slow: 80% for 1s
  • Health: 250 + 100 per level
  • Lifetime: 30s
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 46/42/38/34/30

SUMMON STORM (Ability 3)

  • Tiamat calls on the power of Umu dabrutu, conjuring a violent storm that follows enemies before knocking them upward and dissipating.
  • Initial Damage: 30/45/60/75/90 (+30% of your Magical Power)
  • Damage: 10/15/20/25/30 (+10% of your Magical Power) every 0.4s
  • Lifetime: 4s
  • Cost: 50/55/60/65/70
  • Cooldown: 46/42/38/34/30

This ability creates a small portal where minions created by Tiamat pour out from the location and go down the lane. But their attacking pattern changes where you put the portal. If it’s in the jungle, the minions will seek out the nearest NPC. The portal will only send out three waves of minions, but the minions do not disappear until they die. When you click the ultimate, you have to click an ability to summon a certain minion. Ability one are the serpents. Ability two is the beast. Ability three is a storm, which is not a minion, but it’s an attack that follows enemies, and knocks them up.

TEMPEST OF UNDOING (Grounded)

  • Tiamat causes a celestial outburst around her, dealing initial damage and a damage over time effect to every enemy nearby. Tiamat also gains one Hardened Scale per enemy god hit.
  • Damage: 60/90/120/150/180 (+30% of your Magical Power)
  • Burn Damage: 10/20/30/40/50 (+5% of your Magical Power) every 0.5s
  • Burn Duration: 2s
  • Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 20

While in the grounded stance, Tiamat’s ultimate becomes a large area of effect attack that goes out around her. Each enemy god that it hits gives Tiamat a stack of hardened scale, giving her more damage mitigation, pushing into her bruiser playstyle.
