Do you want to unlock that exclusive weapon/character skin now? Don’t have the time to slaughter countless enemies to save up enough “Legend Tokens” to unlock Mirage? If your time is that valuable to you then maybe the microtransactions within Apex Legends will solve your little problem. Yes, Apex Legends is another BR (battle royale) game to feature microtransaction.

However, the ones on offer here aren’t as brutal as other BR games. Mostly you have three separate currencies within the game. All of them can be found in the top right corner of the main menu at all times.

Crafting Metals

The blue currency is known as “Crafting Metals,” and can be obtained by leveling up and just by playing matches. You’ll use this metal for unlocking skin, banners, quips, and finishers. If you don’t feel like shelling out cash at all, this will be your only way to obtain the exact items you want instantly. Otherwise, you’ll be relying on “Apex Packs” to obtain most cosmetics.

Legend Tokens

Next up we have the red currency known as “Legend Tokens.” These are the only way to unlock new Legends at the moment without spending money. Similar to “Crafting Metals” you’ll earn this material by completing matches and leveling up.

Apex Coins

Finally, we have the real microtransactions known as “Apex Coins.” These allow you to unlock new Legends instantly as well as whatever featured skins are available within the in-game store.1,000 Apex coins are worth $10. After that, there’s the 2,1500 pack which is $20. The packages start the get even more pricey with the 4,350 pack which is $40. If you like Apex Legends then you can spend $60 on the 6,700 pack and buy the equivalent of a new game. And then there’s the final pack…the 11,500 pack which will set you back $100. Now, while these prices may seem over-the-top, they’re quite comparable to most BR games on the market. So while players can earn all Legends and cosmetics naturally, the alternative microtransaction methods are relatively reasonable.
