Wattson was unveiled at EA Play for Apex Legends, along with details on Season 2 of the game that is due to start soon. What are Wattson’s abilities and how can they be used in the game?

Wattson’s abilities are:

Passive: Spark of Genius

• Ultimate Accelerants fully charge your Ultimate Ability, and standing near interception pylons boosts your Tactical Ability recharge.

Tactical Ability: Perimeter Security

• Connect nodes to create electrified fences that damage and slow enemies.

ULTIMATE: Interception Pylon

• Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordnance and repairs damaged shields as long as it stands. (Max: 3)

With these abilities, it firmly places Wattson in competition (or in conjunction with) Lifeline for the Support character of the team. With the electrified fences, you can take a small space in the game and create almost a fort-like area that will leave your opponents’ limited options when it comes to infiltration without causing an alarm. The Pylons will also act as a great defensive option against those trying to breach the fences with projectiles.

It also promotes a strategy that involves teams that play together as the extra protection will allow for better penetration against attackers, while it also encourages moving to the zones early to set up a perimeter and defend rather than go off running.

It also means that Ultimate Accelerants will also be more important depending on team composition.

Wattson’s abilities lend themselves to getting her ultimate quickly as it means relocating forts very quickly, and it means that there is a less risk-vs-reward option to Lifeline’s Ultimate ability.
