Getting the band back together. This Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Ending explanation guide details everything you need to know about what’s ahead for Task Force 141, General Shepherd, Khaleed Al-Asad, and other leading characters.
*Spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t completed the campaign mode*
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is a huge hit. The 2019 reboot of Call Of Duty 4 has, seemingly, struck just the right chord with gamers and will, undoubtedly, go on to be one of the biggest releases of the year. This will be down in no small part to the multiplayer which fans of the FPS genre have been lapping up like thirsty dogs since the game dropped. But there is another element to Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare that you may have over-looked in your lust to get your killstreak climbing, and that’s its campaign mode.
Sometimes seen as nothing more than a glorified tutorial, the Call Of Duty series has always had a gripping and white knuckle ride of a story driving it, and this version is no different. It’s your job to stop a batch of dangerous chemicals falling into the wrong hands, and all this culminates in an epic showdown at a chemical factory, and when the dust settles and everyone’s dead, we fade to black.
Except we don’t, not, as there are a couple of post-credit scenes to come and, boy, are they doozies. Here’s what you learn as I try to explain the ending of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and not trip over my feet too much.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Ending Explained
Task Force 141
We cut to Kate Laswell sharing a cup of tea with Captain John Price, and we learn that he plans to set up an off the radar task force known as Task Force 141. From here, he pulls out a dossier on each member that he wants to recruit, and we meet some old favorites. John “Soap” MacTavish is one of the first on the list as is Simon “Ghost” Riley, these are both beloved characters from the Modern Warfare franchise and look nailed on for any forthcoming sequel.
You’ve Been Playing As Kyle “Gaz” Garrick
It comes as quite a surprise the first thing you learn about Task Force 141 is that one of the main characters that you’ve been playing as is Kyle “Gaz” Garrick. For fans of the series, you’ll know that he met an untimely end at the hands of Zhakaev. So for Infinity Ward to reboot him in such a significant way can only mean they have big things in store for Kyle “Gaz” Garrick when the inevitable Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sees the light of day.
General Shepherd Will Return
During their discussion, Kate Laswell casually mentions everybody’s favorite a**hole, General Shepherd. It seems that he is her contact when it comes to all things Al-Quatala and just the whisper of his name is more than enough to get everyone’s blood pumping at the thought of having to team up with or take out General Shepherd future installments.
As Will Khaled Al-Asad
Khaled Al-Asad set off a nuclear bomb and blew the living hell out of his own country, instantly making him on the most hated protagonists in video game history. So when a picture of him is shown on a smartphone, and the discussion turns to Khaled Al-Asad, then you can bet your house on him appearing in-game during the events the sequel will follow.
Sgt. Kamarov And Nikolai Will Also Be Showing Up
Nikolai is still breathing, and Sgt. Kamarov shows up to pledge his allegiance to the good old CIA, this means that a whole host of favorite characters from the series are in line to make triumphant, or deadly, returns. Though in what way remains to be seen as let’s face it here, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is as fresh as a daisy, so don’t expect any information to drop for at least a year. Mind you, having said all that, if this game goes on to be as big a success as it’s currently looking, then Infinity Ward much rush out a sequel to cash in. Let’s hope not; a botch job is the last thing anyone wants.
