Does Outbreak have a main Easter egg in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies?

Does the story push forward?

The biggest challenge at the launch of almost every Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies map is the main Easter egg. These sets of obscure objectives push the Zombies storyline forward and alter the gameplay in unexpected ways. Does this apply to the new Outbreak mode and map, though?

Unfortunately, at least as of this writing, there is no main Easter egg on Outbreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Even with the map taking place in the Zombies storyline, there have been no hints or secrets that point towards a set of Easter egg steps.

Outbreak is a very different kind of approach for Treyarch towards Zombies. No other map in the subseries’ history has been as large and connected to other locales as this one is. It would be very difficult for the developers to work on specific steps to follow with how the map drops you in random locations. They would need to seriously consider how different the process would be, but at that point, is it still a Zombies main Easter egg?

There being no Easter egg on the new mode’s launch doesn’t mean that Outbreak will never have any Easter egg, though. In Black Ops Cold War, Treyarch is being more open to adding secrets in updates and patches. They could also be looking at making sure Outbreak is a fun experience in Season Two, and then potentially add Easter egg steps in Season Three.

Regardless, as it stands now, Zombie fans will need to look elsewhere for their fix of hidden story beats and odd mechanics.
