Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies has three distinct campaigns. Here’s everything we know about Blood of the Dead, Voyage of Despair, and IX.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases in just over a week and while players have got their hands on the multiplayer and Blackout modes with extensive beta periods, not as much is known about the Zombies mode. Treyarch is focusing much more heavily on Zombies this time around, largely due to the lack of single-player campaign. The trailers have shown off some exciting and unique stuff, so let’s take a look at what we actually know about Black Ops 4’s Zombies mode.
Blood of the Dead
There are three campaigns in Black Ops 4’s Zombies. The first is Blood of the Dead, a re-imagining of the Black Ops 2 map Mob of the Dead. It’s set on the same map with expanded areas and has the Primis crew as playable characters: Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki, and Edward Richtofen. Players need to discover the secrets hidden in the laboratory on the island penitentiary to save the future predicted by the Kronorium.
Voyage of Despair
Set on the Titanic in 1912, the four playable characters have never been seen before: Scarlett Rhodes, Diego Necalli, Bruno Delacroix and Stanton Shaw. After an attempt to steal an ancient artifact goes wrong, the four new heroes have to deal with an all-new supernatural threat. Jason Blundell confirmed at the reveal event that Voyage of Despair is the biggest Zombies map Treyarch has ever made.
IX (Nine)
Easily the most unique of the three, IX is a Zombies campaign set in Ancient Rome. Treyarch is aiming to maintain historical accuracy – minus the, y’know, zombies – so there are no guns whatsoever. Players use bows, swords and other ancient weaponry. Again, players will have the same four characters as in Voyage of Despair as they continue journeying back through time. Expect to fight the Blightfather here, as seen for a brief period during the Blackout beta.
All three campaigns will be available in local co-op, online co-op, or solo. Expect all the usual customization options to return, along with the ability to gift your mystery box weapon to a teammate. Black Ops 4 launches on Friday, October 12, so there’s not long to go until release.
