We have some ideas about how to improve Fortnite: Battle Royale and some suggestions about what should never be added.
Fortnite: Battle Royale is the most popular game in the world right now, and for good reason.
Players can’t get enough of the last-man-standing game that features building mechanics. Epic Games has updated and supported the game a ton since it released in September 2017 with new items, weapons, and features.
Keeping with Epic’s spirit of constant additions, we have some ideas on things we’d like to see included in Fortnite to keep it fresh, as well as some things the developer should stray away from.
Methods of transport
It seems like shopping carts might be movable in a future Fortnite update, and that got us thinking. It would be cool to have some sort of method of quickly moving about the map, not including rocket-riding.
Right now, the only way to move faster and cover large distances is to use a jump pad. Those are nice, but a limited-use item like a bike or a scooter would be cool to use to cover a medium amount of distance in a short time.
Due to the size of the map, there’s no real imperative need to have vehicles of any kind in the game, but it would be awesome to have a hero moment of popping out of a bicycle to save your team from the storm.
A smaller map
Fortnite’s map has something of a balance problem, especially in Squads. Due to the central location and popularity of Tilted Towers, the first few circles clear out about half of a game, if not more. Sometimes it’s fun, because you can PvP very quickly and if you lose, you start up a new game.
The map is big, yes, but there’s no real reason to visit the outskirts unless you want to spend 20 minutes looting and not finding any PvP at all. That might be fun for some, but it’s a bit boring to us.
A smaller map would keep the action condensed and constantly coming at you. Think of the Blitz LTM, but on a smaller island with less points of interest so players are forced to fight it out fast. It would be like Tilted Towers 24/7.
No more explosives
Between the rocket launcher, grenade launcher, grenades, remote explosives, and Clinger grenades, there are a lot of things that can blow you up in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They’re great for taking down bases, yes, but there’s too much going on.
The Guided Missile was added into the game and created more problems than it was worth. This is a sign that there are too many explosive options in the game, especially considering friendly fire was turned off a few months ago.
The Squads tactic of spamming explosives at an enemy base while a teammate or two push up to attack close quarters with a shotgun is extremely strong. It doesn’t need to get any stronger or more prevalent.
More game modes
Limited time modes are great. They add in a wrinkle to the gameplay formula that players have come to know and love over the past few months. But sometimes, they’re gone before you can really get to enjoy them.
It would be cool to have some LTM’s stay permanent, like Blitz, the mode which speeds up the game in a big way by shortening circle times and forcing you to move without staying in one place for too long. It would be a refreshing change of pace to always be able to go to.
And how about 50-vs.-50? Why can’t that stay around? It’s a different enough game mode and has a big enough following for it to stick around full time.
More customization
Players have shown that they are willing to spend a lot of money on V-Bucks to customize their look. Let’s take it a few steps further.
Outfits are cool, but it would be cooler to customize every facet of your skin. Think about being able to take any skin’s head, chest, arms, and legs, and combine them to make your own Frankenstein skin.
Instead of paying for one skin, players would be able to pick and choose what they want to make their character look like so no one player could look the same in-game.
You know you want to see a bunny head with a dinosaur chest attached to an astronauts legs and a knight’s arms.
