Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima preload and unlock times

Not long to wait.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Ghost of Tsushima will release for PlayStation 4 on July 17, putting us in the role of a heart-broken Samurai who decides the only real solution to watching your homeland fall to a foreign invader is to become a one-man army. If like us, you are unreasonably hyped for the game, you might be wondering when you can download the game, and when it will unlock and let you play.

When can you preload Ghost of Tsushima?

If you have already preordered your copy of Ghost of Tsushima on the PS Store, then you can already preload the game, so free up some hard drive space and make sure you are well prepared for launch day. If you are unsure of what version you want, or where to get it from, you can check out our preorder guide, but remember if you buy a physical copy you will not be able to preload.

To preload the game, power up your PlayStation 4 and head to your Library, at the right of the main home screen options. Find Ghost of Tsushima in your purchased games, and it will give you the option to preload it.

When does Ghost of Tsushima unlock?

Ghost of Tsushima will unlock at midnight, the second July 17 hits. This is a regional unlock, so as soon as it hits midnight where you live, you will be able to play the game. So, the good news is there will be no additional wait depending on where you are in the world, but you might need to go through a couple of hours of your buddies being able to play it before you.
