It’s finally here but just what can you do in the new casino?
In October GTA Online will have been in existence for six years, and in that time it has grown from being quite a barren playground into a huge beast that has so many things to do that it can become quite overwhelming at times. The one thing that people have been clamoring for because there isn’t enough content in the game was for Rockstar to open up the casino that just stood as an empty shell for so long. Well, this week they did just that, and GTA Online finally has The Diamond Casino & Resort but was it worth the wait?
Overall then yes. There is only one downside to the whole thing and one we’ll get into shortly, but it does look as if The Diamond Casino & Resort is going to be a roaring success. There’s also a fair few things to do, and this guide will show you what you need to know to roll with the wealthiest people in the city of Los Santos.
Card Games
As you’d expect any casino worth its salt is going to be all about the gambling and The Diamond Casino And Resort is no different. You don’t automatically see the tables when you walk in, but they are there, follow the arrows so to speak and soon you’ll be able to sit down and play Three Card Poker or Blackjack until your heart’s content or until you’re broke and in the poor house. Whichever comes first.
Casino Store
Having been at the card tables and won a few chips you could always pop to the cashier and cash out but where’s the fun in that? Instead, you can now give your winnings straight back to the casino, and all you have to do is pop into their on-site store. Here, you’ll be able to buy a myriad of different things from clothing to masks, from accessories to artwork for your penthouse and all it’s going to cost you is all the money you just won. And don’t worry, if you’re on a losing streak you can change up some of your banked cash for the correct amount it’ll take you to buy those diamond earrings.
Drinking
It’s an old trick that casino’s use. They ply their patrons with free booze, and that keeps then loose enough not to notice just how much many they’ve pissed down the drain over the previous 48 hours. Well, you aren’t getting any of that in The Diamond Casino & Resort. If you want to booze it up, then it’s going to cost you, and I do mean cost you. You can fork out for a simple beer but if you’re going to play then play hard or go home. That $150,000 champagne should just about do it, don’t you think?
Horse Racing
Everyone loves a flutter on the gee-gees. Whether that’s once a year for a special event like the Grand National or the Kentucky Derby or whether you spend most of your time with your head in a racing form. People all over the world are quite happy to be parted with their hard-earned cash on the whims of our four-legged friends, and finally, you can now gamble your virtual house away on some virtual horse racing. It’s a mug’s game, but at least you can do it in the air-conditioned luxury of the resort instead of in some muddy filed somewhere, surrounded by horse poop.
Penthouse Suites
In the intro to this guide, I mentioned a downside to the new update, and this is it. The prices for penthouse suites are astronomical and strike me as a cash grab by Rockstar, a company who I’ve never had a bad word to say about up until this point. The base model will cost you $1,500,000, and by the time you’ve added on all the bells and whistles, then it’s $6,533,500. Now you can grind your way to this target, but it’s going to take a hell of a long time which means that most people will fork out for Shark Cards so that they can access all the free-roam missions and other casino based content that comes with owning one of these things. For shame, Rockstar, for shame.
Slot Machines
The bread and butter of any casino, slot machines are a great way to get people in and hooked on bright colors and spinning wheels. These days they’re not just something that your grandma might play, and in The Diamond Casino & Resort, you can sit down and play like the most hardened of slot jockeys. There are a fair amount of different ones to choose from, but they all do the same thing, spin, land, take your money, rinse, and repeat.
Roof Terrace
This one’s quite self-explanatory. After you’ve finished being fleeced or taking the casino to the cleaners then jump in an elevator and head up to the roof terrace. Once there walk into one of the pools available and watch as your avatar is stripped down to their underwear and able to sit down. Yeah, it’s just as boring as it sounds.
Roulette
The final piece of the casino puzzle, roulette is a great way to make some cash and an even better way to lose your shirt. You can cover a lot of numbers with your chips when you sit down to bet, but you’re going to have to hope Lady Luck is on your side. After all, the house always wins, right?
Wheel Of Fortune
If you have no interest in spending any length of time in the casino, then there is one thing that should remember to do whenever you log in, and that’s to visit it once a day and have a free spin on its Wheel of Fortune. This is a no-lose situation as there are only prizes on offer. From RP to casino chips, from cold, hard cash to the chance to win one of the best looking cars ever to grace GTA Online, it’s worth popping in each day to have a go.
V.I.P
As I mentioned earlier to become a V.I.P, you need to purchase a penthouse and when you do other missions will open up for you to make some money on, though not enough to help you replace your coffers after you’ve bought a bloody penthouse. That’s not all being a V.I.P offers though as it gives you the option to party in the V.I.P area as well as being able to sit at the high rollers tables, just in case you weren’t losing your money fast enough.
