The new Battlegrounds update brings a host of changes to the minion pool, with 18 new minions coming in and 10 getting removed.

The new minions are primarily dragons and dragon synergy cards, with a  few goodies for other tribes to hopefully shake up the death grip demons have on the game at the moment.

The new cards are:

Tier 1

Dragonspawn Lieutenant: 2/3 Dragon with Taunt.

Red Whelp: 1/2 Dragon with “Start of Combat: Deal 1 damage per friendly dragon to one random enemy minion.”

Tier 2:

Glyph Guardian: 2/4 Dragon with “Whenever this attacks, double its attack.”

Steward of Time: 2/4 Dragon with “When you sell this minion, give all minions in Bob’s Tavern +1/+1”.

Waxrider Togwaggle: ½ with “Whenever a friendly Dragon kills an enemy, gain +2/+2”.

Unstable Ghoul: 1/3 with Taunt and Deathrattle: “Deal 1 damage to all minions.”

Tier 3:

Bronze Warden: 2/1 Dragon with Divine Shield and Reborn.

Hangry Dragon: 4/4 Dragon with “At the start of your turn, gain +2/+2 if you won the last combat.”

Tier 4:

Drakonid Enforcer: 3/6 Dragon with “After a friendly minion loses Divine Shield, gain +2/+2.”

Herald of Flame: 5/4 Dragon with Overkill “Deal 3 damage to the leftmost enemy minion.”

Cobalt Scalebane: 5/5 Dragon with “At the end of your turn, give a random friendly minion +3 attack.”

Tier 5:

Murozond: 5/5 Dragon with Battlecry “Add a minion from your last opponent’s warband to your hand.”

Twilight Emissary: 6/8 Dragon with Taunt and Battlecry: “Give a friendly Dragon +3/+3.”

Razorgore, the Untamed: 2/4 Dragon with “At the end of your turn, gain +1/+1 for each dragon you have.”

Tier 6:

Holy Mackerel: 8/4 Murloc with “After another friendly minion loses Divine Shield, gain Divine Shield.”

Imp Mama: 6/8 Demon with “Whenever this minion takes damage, summon a random Demon and give it Taunt.”

Kalecgos, Arcane Aspect: 2/8 Dragon with “After you play a minion with Battlecry, give your Dragons +1/+1.”

Nadina the Red: 7/4 with Deathrattle “Give your Dragons Divine Shield.”

These are some potent minions overall, and significantly more powerful on average than what they’re replacing. The removed minions are as follows:

Shielded Minibot

Annoy-o-Tron

Mounted Raptor

Phalanx Commander

Psych-o-Tron

Tortollan Shellraiser

Piloted Sky Golem

Festerroot Hulk

Boogey Monster

Sated Threshadon

Overall not a bad trade. You lose a gaggle of minions that were rarely taken, and get an entire new tribe with new synergies, as well as support for other hybrid synergies (Divine Shield comps in particular got a buff).

This should be an interesting update to the stale Battlegrounds meta.
