How to find Tahonta and get the Bonehoof Tauralus mount in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

Non-necrolords need not apply.

Have you ever wondered if your chosen covenant was worth it? If you haven’t decided to change which covenant you belong to in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands after joining the Nercrolords, you can scoop up an exclusive mount. The Bonehoof Tauralus (not to be confused with the Armored Bonehoof Tauralus) is available to native Maldraxxians who can find the rare enemy that drops the mount.

You’re looking for Tahonta, who appears southwest of the Theater of Pain at 44.4, 52.0. From what we can tell, this rare mob will spawn every 15 to 20 minutes, so if it isn’t popping up for you, hang around the area for a bit. It should be flagged as rare upon spawning, indicated on your map by a star.

It’s important to emphasize the Necrolord requirement to pick up the Bonehoof Tauralus mount; if you belong to any other covenant, it won’t even appear in the in-game list. You might also pick up the Tauralus Hide Collar, a leather head piece with a boost to Haste and Versatility, if you can wear it. If you’re a hunter, you can tame Tahonta and keep him at your side for any other battles in the future. Because Tahonta is rare, this will count toward your Adventurer of Maldraxxus achievement progress, so mark it off your list of kills.
