Lycanroc is the evolved form of the adorable puppy Pokémon, Rockruff. Neither were included in Pokémon Sword and Shield’s base game, but they are available in the new DLC, the Isle of Armor. Rockruff is easy to get, and can be caught early in the DLC. In theory, this makes Lycanroc easy to get, but if you’re after a specific form of Lycanroc, it can be more difficult.
Lycanroc has three forms: Midday, Midnight, and Dusk. All three forms are Rock type. The changes are purely aesthetic and Poké Dex data. Dusk form is a rare hybrid of the two with the calm nature of Midday and the fighting spirit of Midnight. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, it could only be obtained by evolving a Rockruff with Own Tempo at either 5 pm or 6 am.
There are two ways to get Lycanroc’s Dusk form: evolve from Rockruff and migrate from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Bringing it from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is a lengthy task. You’ll need to make sure your subscription to Pokémon Bank is current. Bring the Pokémon from your PC to Pokémon Bank. From Pokémon Bank, send it to Pokémon Home on your mobile device or your Switch. And from there, players can import it to their Sword or Shield file.
Evolving it is more difficult. Rockruff must have the ability Own Tempo in order to evolve Dusk form Lycanroc. Rockruff doesn’t naturally have Own Tempo. It was an event Pokémon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. That Rockruff can be brought to Sword and Shield the same way as above and evolved.
It’s possible players have already transported that Rockruff via Pokémon Home. Own Tempo can be passed down through breeding to get more Rockruff with the ability. Many players are more than willing to do a trade. The difficult part is obtaining Rockruff with Own Tempo. We believe it evolves the same way as it did in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Once you have it, level it up to level 25 between 5 pm and 5:59 pm or between 6 am and 6:59 am to get Lycanroc Dusk form.Â
