How to get the Emerald Gwiber mount in Final Fantasy XIV

Emerald Weapon's green dragon mount.

Patch 5.4 in Final Fantasy XIV brings the Emerald Weapon fight, updated from Final Fantasy VII. The extreme version of the battle rewards players with weapons and crafting materials, along with a new flying mount, the Emerald Gwiber. Players who emerge victorious from Castrum Marinum (Extreme) have a couple of different ways to obtain this glowing green dragon mount.

Defeating Emerald Weapon (Extreme)

After unlocking Castrum Marinum (Extreme), players will need to learn the fight well enough to clear it. This will take some practice, but you’ll down the boss with enough patience and perseverance.

Each time you beat Emerald Weapon (Extreme), there’s a small chance the mount will appear as loot in the treasure chest. Anyone in your party who doesn’t already have the mount can roll on it. All you can do is pray and hope you roll a high enough number to get the drop. If you’re not having much luck, you have another option if you’re willing to put in the work.

Defeating Emerald Weapon (Extreme) 99 times

Final Fantasy XIV has a (somewhat) generous system for these rare mounts. You automatically earn one Emerald Totem each time you clear Emerald Weapon (Extreme). You can exchange these totems for item level 515 weapons.

After the fight has been out for a while, you’ll also be able to exchange these totems for the mount directly. Patient, hard-working players will have this option instead of relying on RNG drops and loot rolls. Start saving up now by joining farm parties, and you should have enough totems once the mount is available for purchase with totems.

If you, unfortunately, find yourself saving up these 99 totems, C’intana in Mor Dhona (X:22.7, Y:6.7) will have what you need, listed under the Bombastic Bric-a-bac options. She’s also who you talk to for regular weapon exchanges with totems. Pay her a visit when the Emerald Gwiber mount becomes available for totem exchange.
