How to play the Stabbomancer in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Knives aren't playthings.

There are six classes you can choose from in Wonderlands with each one taking up the role of classes you’d find in a typical RPG. The Stabbomancer plays the role of the rogue/thief. They stick to the shadows and attack when an enemy’s back is turned. They aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. If this sounds like a class you’re interested in, then here is everything you need to know to play the Stabbomancer in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Be sneaky

Wonderlands isn’t a game where you are going to be sneaking around behind enemy backs and attacking them when they least expect it. Starting off, the Stabbomancer gets the Ghost Blade action skill that allows them to throw out a spectral blade that swirls in place. This weapon deals melee damage and can be moved at the cost of less duration. At level seven, you will unlock the From the Shadows ability. This one is substantially better than the Ghost Blade ability. From the Shadows is the same as Fl4k’s Fade Away skill from Borderlands 3. You turn invisible for a brief period. During this time, all of your attacks are critical hits that deal 25% less damage than normal critical hits. This ability will allow you to tear down boss health bars in an instant if built correctly.

Skills to pay the bills

The Stabbomancer skill tree has a heavy focus on critical hit damage, status effects, and movement. As a Stabbomancer, you don’t want to get up in your enemy’s face. Instead, you want to stay on the move, and your skills will help with that. Some of the most notable skills in the Stabbomancer tree are:

  • Arsenal: Increases melee damage, gun damage, and spell damage, all by 15% when maxed out.
  • Nimble Fingers: Whenever you deal melee damage, your fire rate and spell damage are increased.
  • Contagion: When you apply a status effect to an enemy, there is a chance that it will spread to nearby enemies. If no enemy is nearby, a different random status effect will be applied to the initial enemy.
  • A Thousand Cuts: Your critical hits grant increased damage dealt for a short duration.
  • Swift Death: While moving, you gain increased damage dealt. The faster you move, the greater the damage bonus.
  • Exploit Their Weakness: Whenever you apply a status effect to an enemy, the affected enemy takes increased damage from all sources for its duration.

While there are plenty of other skills to try out, these ones will no doubt help you craft a powerful build. Remember, your feat also applies a 30% increase to your critical hit chance. This is great for combining with skills that give bonuses on critical hits.

Dexterity, Attunement, and Strength are your friends

Before we dive into the details, strength is more of a suggestion than a necessity. While strength is a nice stat to have as a Stabbomancer due to the increase in critical hit damage, it isn’t the most necessary stat unless your build calls for it. Your primary focus should be dexterity. Depending on what background you choose, you can have up to 30 points in dexterity before you unlock Myth Ranks. Maxing out your dexterity will give you a massive 40% increase in your critical hit chance. You will be getting critical hits all day.

Attunement is another important skill that comes into play depending on what build you are going for. If you are more spell-focused, you won’t need to worry about attunement and can place these points into intelligence instead. Attunement is for if you are skill-focused. This will decrease the cooldown time of your action skill which is very useful when you are running From the Shadows as your skill.

Class combos

The Stabbomancer is a pretty universal class that can really be combined with any other class to make a deadly combination. Two of the more notable combinations are with the Spellshot and the Spore Warden. When you combine the Stabbomancer with the Spellshot, you get a combination that can critically hit with their spells almost all the time. The damage bonus skills from both skill trees combine to create something that is truly powerful. Just be careful not to get carried away. This class combination can be rather squishy.

Combining your skill with the Spore Warden not only means more critical hit chances but status effect chances as well. These two classes combined can be an enemy’s worst nightmare as they get caught on fire, electrocuted, and poisoned before they have a chance to fire back. If you go the Spore Warden route, you will also gain a companion that has the ability to revive should things go south.
