How to sheath your sword in Ghost of Tsushima

Don't be rude.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

In Ghost of Tsushima, you will be trying to change the world with your sword, but that doesn’t mean you want to go around sticking it in everyone’s face all the time. While there doesn’t appear to be any kind of intimidation meter in the game, and NPCs don’t seem to treat you any differently if you have your sword out, gamers with manners are wondering how to put away their sword when they do not need it.

How to put away your Sword

To put away your sword, all you need to do is swipe right on the touchpad when your sword is drawn. If you have been fighting recently and the blade has blood on it, Jin will clear the sword before putting it away. If you have not been fighting, he will quickly put the sword into the sheath.

The cleaning animation can take a bit of time, and if you wish, you can instead swipe down on the touchpad to do the bowing animation. This will cause an animation jump, begin the bow animation, and Jin’s sword will automatically be back in the sheath. The bow is a very quick animation and will save some time over the sword cleaning animation.

There is no weapon degradation in the game, so it doesn’t matter if you clean your sword after combat, and as we said, NPCs don’t treat you any differently whether you are standing their calm of holding your sword about your head as if you intend to decapitate them. Of course, fans of Samurai movies will understand that sheathing and unsheathing a sword are two of the coolest things a hero can do, and there doesn’t always need to be a gameplay mechanic behind wanting to do things in a game.
