When you want to play a game with a friend, it helps to have multiple controllers on your console rather than handing one back and forth. Multiple games on the PlayStation 5 allow for cooperative play, allowing you and your friends to compete against one another or work together. You’ll only be able to do that if you have multiple controllers synced to your console, and it’s not entirely apparent how you do that.
The first thing you want to do is turn the controller you want to sync, turn your PS5 on, and make sure it already has a controller attuned on it. If your PS5 console does not already have a controller operating on it, you need first to grab the USB cable it came with and connect. That’s how you sync a controller, and it works differently when you want to add multiple.
To add multiple, when you have a controller attached to your PS5, you want to go to the settings menu and then go through accessories, general, Bluetooth. Then there should be another accessories option under the BlueTooth menu. Now, right now, there should be nothing. But when you turn the new PS5 controller on, it’ll be searching for a PS5 signal, and it will pop-up on this menu. You can then click on it to choose to pair it to that console.
You should now have both controllers enabled on the console. You can do this for up to four PlayStation 5 controllers on the console. You’ll have to follow this process each time you want to add a new one.
