How to use the Pikachu visor effect in Tiktok

Gotta catch...all your data?
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Pokemon Go Fest 2020 is underway, and even though folks are keeping their distance while they’re on the hunt for new pocket monsters to catch, Pokemon Go developer Niantic is still putting out Poke-stuff to keep you entertained. There are printable crafts that you can make at home (Pokeballs and Pikachus abound), a virtual lounge you can attend, and much more. But maybe you’re out of printer paper or don’t want to spend the money on a festival ticket. Well, you can still get into the spirit if you have a TikTok.

For a limited time, you can apply a Pikachu visor as an effect onto yourself (or others) when shooting a TikTok video. First, go into the app and tap on the plus sign at the bottom of the screen. From here, you will able to create content with your phone’s camera. Select effects and find the icon the says Pokemon Go. Tap this, and it will apply a Pikachu visor effect to any human-shaped head the camera is pointed at. From here, you can make any sort of video you want with yourself wearing Pikachu’s likeness on your head.

Niantic hasn’t said how long the effect will be available, so if you don’t mind participating in the dubious world of TikTok, make the most of it while you can.
