Legendary Pokémon encounters are a bit different from the wild battles you can experience in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!

For starters, each one of them plays almost like the core RPG series, where you need to battle the Pokémon first before you can catch it. You have to defeat it fully first before getting a chance to capture it, though. The battles are also timed, giving you just five minutes to take them down.

Where to find and capture Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo

If you have enough Poké Balls and your Pokémon team is super strong, you can find the four Kanto legendary Pokémon in these locations:

Articuno

  • Location: Seafoam Islands
  • Level: 50
  • How to capture: You’ll find Articuno in the Seafoam Islands when you reach the bottom. There are a few puzzles in your way, but it shouldn’t be an issue.

Zapdos

  • Location: Power Plant
  • Level: 50
  • How to capture: Zapdos will be waiting at the end of the Power Plant.

Moltres

  • Location: Victory Road
  • Level: 50
  • How to capture: When you reach the third floor of Victory Road, Moltres will appear in a small cutscene. You can then approach it to enter a battle.

Mewtwo

  • Location: Cerulean Cave
  • Level: ??
  • How to capture: You’ll first need to beat the Elite Four so you can gain access to Cerulean Cave, which is just north of Cerulean City. At the end of the cave, Mewtwo will be waiting.

Just be careful of his special barrier ability, which will remove all effects of berries and prevent you from throwing any Poké Balls.
