Pokémon Masters Microtransactions explained

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Microtransactions in Pokémon Masters are pretty straightforward, but there are a few snags.

Pokémon Masters is a pretty straightlaced mobile title when it comes to microtransactions in the game, but there are a few key points that might confuse some players.

There are three currencies in Pokémon Masters, but the main one you will be using are Gems. Gems account for two of the different currency types, with one being Gems (Non-Paid) and the other being Gems (Paid) – and this distinction is essential for when you try and get more Sync Pairs.

As the main currency in the game, Gems can be easily collected through completing Story Chapters and Missions in the campaign of Pokémon Masters. But you can also purchase Gems too through a separate menu when you go to draw Sync Pairs. This is all done using real money and can essentially be accessed as soon as the tutorial missions for the story are done.

There are the typical set amounts that are always available for the same price, but as is standard in most mobile games now, there is almost always a bundle on sale that will give players a bit more bang for their buck.

  • 100 Gems $0.99
  • 1500 Gems $12.99
  • 400 Gems $3.99
  • 3400 Gems $29.99
  • 5200 Gems $44.99
  • 9800 Gems $79.99

There is no limit to the number of Gems you can purchase in the game, but Pokémon Masters does allow you to set notifications if you want to be warned before spending too much on the purchased Gems.

The important distinction between paid and non-paid Gems comes when using the Sync Pair Scout function to obtain new characters that you can battle with. There are a lot of characters that can be collected by just completing Story Missions, but this is just another way to get more pairs and also power up the ones you already have.

It takes 300 Gems to perform one scout, or you can exchange 3,000 at once to perform scout for 10 pairs at once. Some banners allow players to turn that 3,000 Gems into a 10 pair pull while guaranteeing at least one five-star Trainer. But for the regular banner, there is a third option that gives users who have paid Gems a bit of a discount.

There is a “Daily Discount” pull that uses only paid Gems, which gives a normal Scout for just 100 Gems. Paid Gems can also be used for normal pulls with no limit however. Either way, once a player performs a Scout they will receive three Scout Points. Once that total reaches 400, players will get to select one Scout Pair they want from a banner and instantly receive it in exchange for their Scour Points.
