They have some good defensive stats, and Slowbro received a boost in Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire in the form of Mega Slowbro, but they’ve always faced stiff competition from better Water and Psychic-type Pokemon.

Pokemon Go: Is Slowbro Or Slowking The Better Choice?
When it comes to Pokemon Go, in terms of stats and abilities, Slowbro and Slowking are almost identical. Niantic didn’t do a good job of differentiating the pair, which can make them feel interchangeable. On the surface, the only major difference is how they evolve, as Slowking requires a King’s Rock to evolve, as well as 50 Candies, which means the player won’t always have one to hand. By comparison, Slowpoke only requires 50 Candies to evolve into Slowbro, which is easier.
The main reason Slowbro is the better Pokemon in Pokemon Go is due to its Mega Evolution. Slowbro requires 100 Mega Energy to evolve once, then 20 for every additional time. Mega Slowbro is stronger than either Slowbro or Slowking, making it the superior choice for battles.

The Slowpoke line isn’t exactly OP when it comes to Pokemon Go battles, especially in a game filled to the brim with Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, as well as Mega Evolutions and all kinds of similar power-ups.
