At first glance, it can seem like there’s no campaign or story mode for the solo players to enjoy when they want to step away from the hectic boards or online matches. Thankfully, there is such a mode available—and it’s called Challenge Mode.
Super Mario Party has a bunch of different modes to unlock to test your partying skills against friends and family. But where are all of the options for the lone single player?
At first glance, it can seem like there’s no campaign or story mode for the solo players to enjoy when they want to step away from the hectic boards or online matches. Thankfully, there is such a mode available—and it’s called Challenge Mode.
Challenge Mode is the lone purple board located in the top right portion of the overworld. It forces the player to go through a gauntlet run, taking on every minigame that Super Mario Party has to offer by completing specific tasks in each one. It’s also where you unlock some secret characters in the game, alongside one of the five Gems.
When you start a new game, it’ll always be locked until you reach a certain requirement—you’ll need to unlock every minigame in Super Mario Party.
You can do this by simply playing the game and going over to the minigame mode option on the right side of the overworld to check to see which ones you’re missing. Go into free-play and scroll through the different types of minigames to see which ones you need to play.
There are minigames locked in River Survival, Sound Stage, and normal board modes, so be sure to play as many games as possible to unlock them all.
Once you do that, Challenge Mode will be unlocked and you’ll be able to play it as much as you’d like.
