If you ever doubted the melding of Hollywood and the game’s industry, just look at who the Voice Actors in Destiny 2 are.
If you’re anything like most Destiny 2 players, then you spend hundreds of hours in the game, grinding for loot, exploring for secrets, and goofing around in the Tower. But have you ever paused and thought “Who are the Voice Actors in Destiny 2?” If you’re curious, we’ve got the main characters listed below, and some of the faces behind the voices may surprise you. We’ve sorted them alphabetically to ensure no one is offended by the order – I’m talking about Cayde-6, of course.
Forsaken – Cayde-6 – Nolan North
Wait, what? But I thought Cayde-6 is voiced by Nathan Fillion, as stated further below. If that’s what you’re thinking, you’d be correct, but unfortunately, Nathan had scheduling conflicts and was unavailable to lend his voice to Cayde-6 in Destiny 2: Forsaken. So Nolan North, who also voices Ghost, stepped in and did an admirable job voicing our favorite hunter Vanguard.
Forsaken – Petra Venj – April Stewart
Petra Venj is making her return from the original Destiny and will assist our Guardians throughout the campaign in Forsaken. She’s voiced by April Stewart who reprises her role from the first game.
Forsaken – Prince Uldren Sov – Brandon O’Neill
Another character making his return from the original Destiny is Prince Uldren Sov. He’s infamously known in Destiny 2 as the main bad guy and the dude who snuffs out Cayde-6. His voice is provided by Brandon O’Neill who also returns from the first game.
Forsaken – Spider – Robin Atkin Downes
Spider is a Fallen vendor in the Tangled Shore that will assist Guardians during the campaign. Thanks to a commenter for pointing out that Robin Atkin Downes revealed that he is the voice of the Spider on Twitter.
Forsaken – Queen Mara Sov – Kirsten Potter
Look, Queen Mara Sov went missing in the original Destiny game and is presumed dead, except nobody really believes that. So is there a chance that she’ll appear somewhere in Destiny 2: Forsaken and helps us Guardians defeat her evil brother? I hope so. She was voiced by Kirsten Potter, so it stands to reason that if she returns, she’ll be voiced by her once again.
Forsaken – The Drifter – Todd Haberkorn
The Drifter is the vendor for the new Gambit game mode that’s been added to Destiny 2: Forsaken. Another eagle-eyed commenter spotted that Todd Haberkorn’s Wikipedia entry lists him as the voice for the Drifter.
Amanda Holliday – Courtenay Taylor
Courtenay Taylor is well known in the voice acting world, having made appearances in many video games, including providing the female player voice in Fallout 4.
Arach Jalaal – Peter Stormare
If you don’t know who Peter Stormare is and you didn’t recognize his voice immediately, then you haven’t been spending enough time in front of the TV. He’s a veteran of many great movies, including Fargo and Constantine. When I think of the best portrayal of the devil on the big screen, I think of Peter.
Asher Mir – Darryl Kurylo
You know, it’s not easy portraying a character that’s a bit of a jackass, but Darryl Kurylo does an excellent job of making me dislike Asher Mir.
Banshee-44 – John DiMaggio
Okay, fine, I’m reaching a little bit by calling Banshee-44 a main character, but I still have hope that there are some exotics hidden somewhere behind that counter. Come on John DiMaggio, stop holding out on us!
Cayde-6 – Nathan Fillion
Finally, the crème de la crème of Destiny 2 voice actors, Nathan Fillion. And I’m not just saying that because he’s a fellow Canadian, Captain Malcom Reynolds, and Doctor Horrible.
Commander Zavala – Lance Reddick
When I think of Lance Reddick, I think of his role on the best TV series ever, The Wire. He’s also made appearances in Fringe, and a few hundred other shows that you’ve probably seen.
Consul – Frank Langella
The honor of voicing the ugliest character in Destiny 2 goes to Frank Langella, who you may recognize from the silver screen, including some great performances in The Americans.
Devrim Kay – Gideon Emery
Devrim Kay is like my spirit animal in Destiny 2. He’s grumpy, lost a large part of his past, and seems too stubborn to do anything about it. Gideon Emery does a great job of portraying that.
Emperor Calus – Darin De Paul
Emperor Calus is a bit of a jerk, inviting us to all his trials of death and trying to consume Mercury. Here’s an embarrassing secret though, Darin De Paul, Calus’ voice, got his start in show business on the 80s tv series Miami Vice. Take that, Calus!
Executor Hideo – James Remar
We don’t know a whole lot about the various Factions’ motivations, but if James Remar’s intentions are anything like those he portrayed as Dexter’s father, Harry Morgan, we’ll be alright.
Failsafe – Joy Osmanski
If you’re interested in more details of Joy Osmanski’s portrayal of Failsafe, we wrote an entire article about our favorite bipolar AI.
Ghaul – Neil Kaplan
Neil Kaplan has voiced many video game characters, including parts in The Last of Us and Gears of War 4, but none as important as Ghaul, bad guy extraordinaire.
Ghost – Nolan North
Nolan North took over as Dinklebot 2.0 half-way through the original Destiny and is probably the single most prolific video game voice actor ever.
Hawthorne – Sumalee Montano
Miss “I hate the city, will never leave the Farm, until I suddenly show up at the Tower” Hawthorne is voiced by Sumalee Montano, who’s lent her voice to several video games, including roles in Fallout 4 and Mass Effect 3.
Ikora Rey – Gina Torres
Providing Ikora Rey’s attitude is Gina Torres, an excellent actress with roles in popular TV series like Suits and Firefly, where she played alongside Nathan Fillion.
Lakshmi-2 – Shohreh Aghdashloo
Fans of the TV show The Expanse will recognize Shohreh Aghdashloo’s unique voice immediately. Those of you who haven’t seen The Expanse; what are you doing?
Lord Saladin – Keith Ferguson
In the past I’ve mentioned to fellow gamers how much more upbeat and encouraging Lord Saladin’s Iron Banner commentary is compared to that of Lord Shaxx. Just looking at Keith Ferguson’s smile explains exactly why that is.
Lord Shaxx – Lennie James
I hate you, Shaxx! Not Lennie James’ fault. He was good in The Walking Dead. But I hate Shaxx and his stupid attitude. YOU TRY HARDER!
Master Rahool – Erick Avari
Keep in mind that the guy you’re blaming for giving you the fifteenth version of the Crest of Alpha Lupi, isn’t actually Erick Avari. He’s just the voice of Master Rahool.
Osiris – Oded Fehr
While we have yet to officially meet Osiris, the recent Curse of Osiris DLC info has me pretty excited. Oded Fehr is also a veteran of the silver screen, and quite frankly, he looks pretty much how I would imagine a real-life Osiris to look.
Sagira – Morena Baccarin
Another upcoming new character, Osiris’ ghost, Sagira, will be voiced by Morena Baccarin. She will be familiar to any Firefly fans, having worked with Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres, among many other TV roles.
Sloane – Cissy Jones
Cissy Jones, who lends her vocal talents to Sloane, has plenty of experience voicing video game characters, including roles in Grand Theft Auto V and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Tess Everis – Claudia Black
The voice behind the microtransactions peddler, Eververse, is Claudia Black, who probably laughs at EA when no one is near her kiosk.
The Speaker – Bill Nighy
Granted, the Speaker doesn’t have much to say in Destiny 2, but I felt it necessary to point out that his voice is provided by Bill Nighy, a veteran of such classics as Hot Fuzz and Love Actually.
Tyra Karn – Page Leong
It would be easy to forget about Tyra Karn, but where would we be without those exotics that we received around level 12? Page Leong does her best to compete with that other cryptarch that we all trust more.
Xur – Fred Tatasciore
Last but certainly not least, is Xur. Fred Tatasciore joins us every weekend and mumbles some incoherent stuff that will probably be the end of all the Guardians in the future.
There you have it, folks! 26 of your favorite voices in Destiny 2. Did any of them stand out to you? Let us know in the comments.
