After seeing a release date delay that led to its fair share of drama, from refund requests to an outburst from the director, Scorn’s schedule has had another change. And this is one of the rare times that shouldn’t cause any complaints. Here’s what you need to know about when you get your hands on Scorn and play it yourself.
Scorn release date
After the previously mentioned outburst, Scorn developer Ebb Software hired a community director. New hire Megna’s first Kickstarter post featured a fresh release date announcement trailer, which was initially set for October 21. In a surprise twist, though, the team announced the game’s release date has actually been moved up by a week to October 14. This announcement, made via the game’s Twitter, was also accompanied by a short teaser video that you can watch below. It’s unclear why exactly the release date was moved up in this case, but it seems like the team was just eager to get it into the hands of players as soon as possible.
Scorn cites artist HR Giger, who designed the Xenomorph for the Alien films, as one of its main influences. That vibe has been clear ever since the game’s first reveal. Scorn’s biopunk style is oily, fleshy, and full of veiled body horror, something we were able to see firsthand in our recent hands-on preview of the game. Scorn will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and it’ll be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
