Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a wheelchair! This is a rare nod to gamers who use mobility aids; seeing this kind of representation in a top-tier game is a refreshing change of pace.

Disappointingly, it doesn’t move. It’s a furniture item, so you aren’t able to equip it and use it to get around like a real wheelchair. You can place it indoors or outdoors, and the wheels spin in place. You can use a Customization Kit to decorate it.

There are three ways to get a wheelchair:

Floating present

Some players have found the wheelchair as a floating balloon present. You’ll need a Slingshot to burst the balloon and get the gift box. There’s a random chance of any given item dropping from floating presents, so this method relies heavily on luck.

From the store

You might find the wheelchair for sale as one of your daily furniture options. We were fortunate enough to find it available at Nook’s Cranny for 2,700 bells.

If you don’t have a friend who can buy one, you may consider making a new friend. The Animal Crossing community is generally wholesome and giving, and there are a number of ways to find someone who can give you a wheelchair. Check the Animal Crossing subreddit for a post where other players share friend codes, make a request on Twitter using AC:NL hashtags, or look for Discord servers and Facebook groups where item trading is permitted.
