The popular MLB The Show franchise has been a hit among many sports fans, but the title has had limited reach for quite some time. MLB The Show is owned and developed by Sony, meaning that it has only been available to PlayStation owners. That’s been a significant issue for PC and Xbox gamers, as a simulation baseball title has not been introduced for the Xbox or PC since 2012 (for PC) and 2013 (for Xbox). So will the drought continue with MLB The Show 21? We now know the answer.
But before we do that, let’s give you a bit of background information. Back in December of 2019, Major League Baseball, along with the MLBPA, Sony, and Sony San Diego, announced a multi-year agreement to extend the partnership between the parties. The announcement noted that the agreement will allow the MLB The Show franchise to continue, but with one twist. The MLBPA and Sony also announced that the franchise will be brought to “console platforms beyond PlayStation platforms as early as 2021.”
This announcement signified that MLB The Show’s time as a PlayStation exclusive would come to an end, and Xbox, as well as Nintendo, certainly played up the news on social media.
There was, however, quite a bit of uncertainty as to whether the title would hit the Xbox family of consoles this year. COVID-19 has hit the gaming industry hard in recent months, and early rating releases didn’t seem to favor Xbox or PC gamers at all.
But on February 1, Sony put an end to many rumors, and the company confirmed that MLB The Show, for the first time ever, will be making its way to the Xbox family of consoles. MLB The Show 21 will go live this April for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

On the other hand, however, it does not appear that PC users will be getting the title this year. Sony stated that MLB The Show 21 will be available for the Xbox and PlayStation family of consoles. So unless you have any of those consoles, it doesn’t look like you’ll be hitting the diamond this year.
