Much like with the Madden and UFC series, EA Sports has not developed an NHL game for the Nintendo Switch since the platform launched in 2017. But will that change in 2020, despite the fact that some of the other EA Sports games did not receive a launch on the platform this year? The answer to this question is no.
In a letter to the NHL community in July, the development team stated that NHL 21 will launch this year for the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. The NHL devs made no mention of a Nintendo Switch version of NHL 21. On August 24, the launch trailer for NHL 21 went live, along with official information regarding the game and its release date. In that announcement, EA confirmed that NHL 21 will launch worldwide on October 16, but only for the Xbox One and PS4.
So just like Madden 21 and UFC 4, NHL 21 will not be coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. And as things stand right now, the only EA Sports franchise to be on the Switch is the FIFA series, which has received a release every year since 2017.
